Balneario Camboriu is located in a north central coast of Santa Catarina. It´s one of the most visited touristic places in Brazil, specially for natives of Rio Grande do Sul, Parana and Santa Catarina. In a season and during the months of March and April is important a presence of tourist from Argentina, Chile and Paraguay.

On the last decades the city´s population has experienced rapidly growth. Today, this population it has more than 120,000 people, and 15,000 of them are university students from all Brazil and even from abroad.

More and more high-income people decides to live here closed to the beach, because its good weather all the year and the structure of trade, health, education and leisure is well developed. In commerce, for example, the city registers branches of most well major retail chains in the country. Balneario Camboriu, each year, is appointed as one of the national leader in quality of life and this is one incentive more for people transfer to live here.

The size of the city is very small (50 km2) and its downtown extends along 6 km from the central beach. In this axis are concentrated hotels, the most sophisticated buildings, the commerce and entertainment.
